Electric Rotary-Screw Compressors at Shawnee Peak

Trask-Decrow Machinery has been working with Shawnee Peak, in Bridgeton, Maine, to add 5 electric rotary-screw compressors to their snow making package. Shawnee Peak’s snowmaking system is powered by a 2000 KVA transformer and a power distribution panel capable of running up to six 900 CFM, electric rotary screw compressors. These powerful, electric compressors augment three existing 1600 CFM diesel compressors that are currently being used to make snow for the mountain. The new, electric compressors will eliminate the need for additional rental units as well as provide financial and environmental benefits to Shawnee Peak.

This impressive snow making package will considerably lower Shawnee Peak’s dependence on diesel fuel as well as lower the costs of operation and maintenance for the mountain. The electric compressors will reduce energy costs for the local ski area as well as the stack emissions put out by traditional diesel compressors. This  results in a cleaner environment for everyone to enjoy. The electric compressors are considerably less noisy than their diesel counter parts which makes for a quieter resort environment for the mountain and its guests. Eliminating the diesel engines also reduces costly engine maintenance saving the ski mountain even more money.  With cleaner, more economical, snow making power just waiting to be harnessed Shawnee Peak is anxious for the snow making to begin!
